Page Wofford
Head Coach, Northwestern High School
Sponsored by First National Bank, the High School Football Coach of the Year Award honors a
local Head Football Coach who demonstrates character, integrity, sportsmanship, responsibility,
and excellence both on and off the field. This year, the award goes to Northwestern High
School’s Page Wofford.
Coach Page Wofford’s teams possess not only great physical talent but win games with
character and integrity. While teaching his players the technical skills for winning football, Coach
Wofford also instills values such as discipline, teamwork, and resilience. Always in search of improvement, Coach Wofford provides each student-athlete with constructive feedback that acknowledges a player’s strengths while highlighting areas for improvement.
Coach Wofford is committed to fairness and ethical standards. If a player gets in trouble, he
does not play. If a player is struggling with grades, he is sent to study hall and does not play. If
injured, players do not return to the field until cleared by the medical staff. Coach Wofford
prioritizes the well-being and safety of his athletes, and his motto is, “Win today by shaping
athletes into winners on and off the field.” Coach Wofford encourages true sportsmanship by being a positive example for players,
coaches, and staff. He pushes his players to play hard but always within the spirit of good sportsmanship. Coach Page acknowledges and appreciates the efforts of both teams and strives to always be a positive role model in handling both victory and defeat with grace.
In addition to his leadership of the team and within the school, Coach Wofford strives to be a positive force in the community at large. He regularly engages with the community through various media platforms and helps organize and participate in events such as Community Clean-Ups, Adopt-A-Highway, storm relief efforts, and Hungry Heroes. Coach Wofford
generously gives his time to local Youth Football Teams, helping teach various aspects of the
game. By sharing his time and expertise, Coach Wofford is inspiring and growing the next
generation of Northwest Trojans! Coach Wofford strongly believes that excellence in the classroom is crucial to a young person’s
success in life. Mandatory tutoring is provided before school, during lunch, and even after practice for any player struggling with academics. Students with low grades cannot participate in Spring Practice or Summer Workouts until their grades have improved. Winning is far more than just Friday night success. Real winning happens when players excel off the field.
